Sputter Coater Systems
DSR1
Dedicated Sputter Coater
The DSR Sputter Coater model is a compact desktop coating system capable of depositing noble metals such as gold (Au), palladium (Pd), platinum (Pt) and gold/palladium (Au/Pd) thin films on non-conductive or poorly conductive specimens, typically for SEM imaging and analysis. Uniform thin films with fine-grain sizes are formed in a fast cycle time suitable for standard scanning electron microscopy. A special DSR-L model with larger chamber is available that requires a custom 100mm (4-inch) diameter target.
Thin Film
The produced thin film is suitable for scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis. The Desk Magnetron Coater is a high productivity tool that delivers consistent and highly repeatable results in the fully automated system. The ergonomic design and small footprint of the SEM coating system allows easy use of the system.
Sample Stages
The DSR1 can be equipped with different sample stage configurations depending on the user requirements. The standard sample stage is rotatable with adjustable height, angel and can be changed easily.
The rotary planetary sample stage is a good choice for uniform coating of porous specimens.
- DTE is equipped with a high current power supply and low-voltage (resistive) thermal evaporation platform suitable for a wide variety of thermal evaporation applications.
- The system allows controlled thermal evaporation of a wide range of materials onto the substrate. Different types of thermal evaporation sources (boat, basket, and coil) can be installed on the single thermal source holder.
- Thin films are deposited in a with fine control producing repeatable results when used in Automatic mode.
- Carbon coating attachment
The DSR1 is a compact sputter coating instrument making it ideal where laboratory space is limited.
Upgrade to Carbon Fibre and/or Carbon Rod evaporation is available on request. - Vacuum pump is not supplied, can be provided on request.

DSR1-More info
Desktop SEM/TEM Sputter Coater
Sample preparation using sputter coating is the recognized method for non-conductive and low conductive specimens or samples.
The desk sputter coater is equipped with a 7” colored touch screen and full automatic control and data input that can be operated by even inexperienced users. The vacuum, current and deposition information can be observed as digital data or curves on the touch screen. Information of the last 300 coating can also be saved in the history page.
All coater models can be equipped with different sample stage configurations depending on the user requirements. The standard sample stage holds up to 7 standard SEM pin stub mounts and is rotatable with adjustable height or angle. The holders can be exchanged easily with other holders when requirements change.
The optional rotary planetary sample stage is a good choice for uniform coating of specimens with porosity or intricate 3D details where coating is needed in hard to reach features of the specimen.
Other holders are available for:
- Glass Slides
- Metallurgical mounts
- Jeol and Hitachi style cylinder stubs
The DCR and DSCR model coaters offer pulsed carbon fiber evaporation. Short pulses provide more controlled deposition and significantly reduces the amount of debris associated with traditional carbon deposition. An Optional Carbon Rod coating head is available for the DCT model.
